Dick attended Ohio Wesleyan University from which he received his bachelor’s degree in 1963. He graduated from the Northwestern University School of Law in 1966 and was admitted to practice in Michigan in 1967. After serving as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Washtenaw County (Michigan) for three years, he entered private practice in Ann Arbor in 1971. Dick is admitted to practice in all Michigan Courts, the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

A member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 1985, Dick concentrates his practice in immigration and nationality law. He is an active member of AILA’s Michigan Chapter, having served as Co-Chair of its INS Liaison Committee and Chair of its Michigan State Bar Liaison Committee. Dick is a Past President of the Washtenaw County Bar Association. For ten years, he chaired the District H Subcommittee on Character and Fitness of the Michigan State Bar Association.

Dick is the author of a variety of articles, including “Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986,” and “The Immigration Aspects of the U.S. Canadian Free Trade Agreement,” both of which appeared in Res Ipsa Loquitur. He has been an invited lecturer on immigration law at Ave Maria School of Law and Eastern Michigan University, a presenter at AILA meetings, and a frequent speaker to a number of organizations on immigration law.
